My pictures today are oddly lit. I could’ve taken advantage of the fading daylight but that would’ve involved being out of doors, not something I relished doing at all today. Instead I stayed indoors once I finally got home and took some oddly lit photos in multiple locations that are, well, odd.
Back in black today with a splash of col0ur and metal for kicks. The dress is from Penneys, it creases purely by existing but I find it rather comfortable and versatile. It can be a little short when I sit down as the hem is all over the place (something I noticed when preparing myself for a driving lesson that, thankfully, did not happen) but that’s something thick, high denier tights, solve.
Isn’t it funny how the high street is ALL OVER Chanel-inspired clothing and accessories for some time now and it’s not going anywhere. Looking at what I’m wearing my belt looks like the 2.11 chain and my shoes are quilted two-tone flats. The belt was ridiculously cheap and the shoes are more high street than the high street itself, the look is unintentional but makes me me feel very fashion-victimy. I can’t say that it has put me off Chanel but my grá for the 2.11 has waned in the face of a world of imitations.

Shoes: New Look, Tights: ASOS or Topshop, Dress: Penneys, Belt: Dunnes, Cardigan: Vero Moda, Belt: worn as necklace: Claires, Glasses: Prada Other shoes on floor: Hush Puppies (my new very sensible footwear)

Today’s dress was chosen because I haven’t touched it since I bought it months ago. I now know why: it’s a little too short and the cut – especially around the legs – is not so flattering. We live and learn I guess. Navy and grey always shouts “school uniform” at me and not in a good way (IS there a good way?!) but I still enjoy it as a colour combination. In a turn up for the better my nails actually match my clothing today and the varnish is not chipped too badly…go me. Details after the jump.

First off I offer my heartfelt admiration to ye daily style bloggers out there…HOW DO YOU DO IT? I took approximately 657 pictures and came out with two, TWO! And even then they’re not great. I look positively pissed with the world in one and the lighting in the other is terrible. Practice must make perfect.
I wear a lot of dresses so it seems right that my first post finds me in a patterned dress. My faux fur collar is my favourite thing in the world right now (I was caught stroking it in the cinema on Sunday…) so I pair it with everything. I love these heels, mainly because I can walk in them.

Yes, we’re a tad bike-obsessed in our house, so much so that they’re indoor-dwelling bikes lest they catch a cold. Details and one more picture after the jump….

oh, the weather outside is frightful
Sorry. Really, sorry.
I’m not aware if the Christmas songs have started in the shops yet, and I care not to know. Unfortunately, for you, me and everyone we know, I have a nice little playlist of festive tunes circulating in my head at the moment. Last week I had to decline a Christmas shopping bag from the girl in M&S, it felt wrong. Wrong that she offered, that is.
But the weather outside IS frightful today. Mullingar is cold, wet and ever-so-dreary. As I had errands to run in the town I took a quick detour into one of Mullingar’s shoppings malls to escape the rain and grey. This one has M&S, Penneys, Dorothy Perkins and New Look. Despite the fact that New Look has some truely awful clothing and footwear on their shelves they tend to come up with the occasional gem, as they did today.
I’ve wanted a pair of black patent booties/brogues for ages. It’s definitely the What I Wore effect; Jessica seems to pair her Payless patent booties with just about everything and they always look great. Case in point:

So I was beyond happy (hyperbole? perhaps.) to see these treasures in New Look. They’re not quite the same but they’re as close as I’ve found and trust me, I’ve looked. They fit like a dream, the heel is perfect for my ungainly self and they were super cheap: €25. Perfect for a recently unemployed lass such as myself. My pictures are without human limbs in the shoes, i’m recovering from the rain in pjs and furry boots; this is not me at my most photogenic. And, yes, I bought the tights too. Victim? Yes, but I’ll die happy.

My new New Look Brogue-ish shoes

they come in a pair, too...
In case you’re wondering: the nails are Barry M (Chanel being out of my price and desire range), the bangle is Topshop, the bag was a hand-me-down and the mess is there because my office has no shelving to speak of, it needs serious Ikea-ing.
